In recent years, autonomous driving technology has continued to advance, with Robotaxi beginning to enter real urban roads and commercial operation scenarios. However, moving from technology demonstration to stable operation still requires solving a series of issues, including continuous vehicle online presence, capacity dispatching, energy replenishment, anomaly handling, and operating costs. Therefore, the current development focus of China’s Robotaxi is not only on improving the autonomous driving system itself, but on how to truly embed the technology into a complete mobility service chain.

On the vehicle side, Eva Cab, China’s first natively developed purpose-built Robotaxi with CaoCao Mobility’s deep involvement in product definition and R&D, has been unveiled. The model adopts a design without a front passenger seat or steering wheel, and is developed via forward engineering specifically for autonomous driving operational scenarios, making it more suitable for future high-frequency commercial operations. According to the plan, this model will enter mass production in 2027, and CaoCao Mobility plans to cumulatively deploy 100,000 Robotaxis by 2030, further establishing a vehicle foundation for large-scale operations.
Beyond technology, the operational system is a crucial link for the sustainability of robotaxi commercialization. In April 2026, CaoCao Mobility was approved as the first enterprise in Hangzhou to conduct road testing of intelligent connected vehicles without safety operators. On July 27, the company officially opened main-seat driverless testing for Robotaxis, conducting small-scale verification in the real urban road environment of Binjiang District, Hangzhou, through designated station-triggered dispatching. Test vehicles are connected to the “CaoCao Zhixing RAS (Remote Assistance & Safety) Platform,” providing supporting safeguards for unmanned operations through capabilities such as safety monitoring, remote assistance, and anomaly handling.
Currently, CaoCao Mobility has deployed over 100 Robotaxis in Hangzhou and is simultaneously building a Green Intelligent Mobility Hub, providing services including automated battery swapping, automated cleaning, vehicle preparation, and smart dispatching.
